About Our College

The Birpara College Alumni Association, established on July 20, 2016, and registered under the West Bengal Society Registration Act (Act XXVI of 1961) on January 27, 2017 (S/2L.no 58237 of 2016-17), has grown from an initial 46 life members to a vibrant community committed to supporting the college’s development. With notable members like Utpal Kumar Roy (social worker), inaugural General Secretary Prasenjit Das, Bipul Chetri (Assistant Professor at Shamaprasad College, Kolkata), Joy Prakash Choudhury (Manager at State Bank of India, Malda Branch), and Jaju Bansal (Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary), the association brings together alumni from diverse professional backgrounds.
Since its inception, the Alumni Association has played a crucial role in supporting various college initiatives. It has sponsored programs such as Value Education and organized certificate courses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the association helped maintain the campus by funding tree planting and garden maintenance, exemplifying its commitment to the college’s environment. In the post-pandemic period, the association has continued to support the maintenance of college and hostel gardens and has financed the paving of a gravel road between the English and Geography departments.
Dedicated to academic excellence, the Alumni Association also provides monetary awards to outstanding students and has recently organized a successful Alumni Meet, bringing together alumni from across the country to exchange ideas and reconnect with their alma mater. Many alumni have generously pledged funds for the college, including donations for the purchase of computers to enhance academic resources.
Alumni frequently return to the college to deliver motivational speeches and offer career guidance to current students, enriching their educational journey and inspiring them toward promising careers. Their involvement is seen in college events such as Nabin Baran Utsab, where they help foster a sense of tradition and community. The association also actively supports and participates in annual sports events, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Culturally, the association adds vibrancy to the college through events like Basanta Utsab and Saraswati Puja, celebrating regional heritage and deepening the college community’s connection to local traditions. Beyond cultural and sports activities, alumni contribute to academic and career development through career guidance sessions and job preparation programs. These initiatives equip students with essential skills and connect them with potential employers, significantly enhancing their employability.
Overall, the Birpara College Alumni Association plays an invaluable role in fostering a supportive, dynamic environment within the college. Their active participation in cultural, academic, and professional activities reflects a profound dedication to the growth and well-being of the college community. Through these contributions, the Alumni Association not only enhances the college experience for current students but also strengthens the sense of pride and belonging for all members of the Birpara College community.
